Fashion UK, a leading designer and manufacturer of licensed childrenswear apparel, based in Leicester, is excited to announce that it has partnered up with three regional based charities, in a bid to raise awareness for local causes.

Committed to raising money for communities close to its heart, Fashion UK has come together to take part in a variety of different activities to show its support for the Big Difference Company, Alex’s Wish and the Leicester Riders Foundation. From comedy to cakes, the Fashion UK team have embraced their inner creative side, throwing themselves into every opportunity possible to support these local charities.

Alex’s Wish is committed to raising vital funds to help find treatments and a cure for the life-limiting disease Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Supporters such as Fashion UK are hugely important to the charity in helping it achieve its goal to reach £1m by the year 2020. Through a series of events, including a theatre production and a coffee morning, the licensee company have already raised over £3,000 for Alex’s Wish and have heavily involved themselves in the charity’s future projects.

The Fashion UK team hopes their enthusiasm and passion will also aid it in raising a further £10,000 for the Big Difference Company, who run the Leicester Comedy Festival held at the end of February. As one of the main sponsors for the charity, the team at Fashion UK have embraced their funny side to help deliver various projects which use comedy and humour to develop the local communi-ty’s skills and experiences. As part of its commitment to the charity, Fashion UK will be hosting a variety of events throughout the year, including a comedy workshop hosted by 12 members of the team.

Geoff Rowe, Chief Executive, Big Difference Company, comments: “We are excited to get the Fash-ion UK team involved in the Big Difference Company. From getting up on stage and performing stand-up comedy themselves, to assisting with the Silver Stand-up project – a national comedy competition for over 55’s, this is a different way for companies like Fashion UK to involve their staff and clients in an exciting event and arm their staff with new skills as they get behind a good cause.”

Established in 2015, the Leicester Riders Foundation is the national champions Rider’s charitable arm, providing over 15,000 participants a year with a basketball experience. In support of the charity, Fashion UK has teamed up with three of the young boys and girls Riders basketball teams, who will each be sporting the Fashion UK logo on their kits for two seasons. In a bid to support the basketball community, the licensee company is excited to get involved in the Foundation’s initiatives, which include Youth Offending Schemes and other local social responsibility and participation schemes, whilst also hosting focus groups with members of the youth teams.

Kevin Routledge, Chairman of the Leicester Riders and Trustee of the Foundation, is looking for-ward to working with Fashion UK on the partnership: “The Riders are delighted to welcome Fashion UK to our family of commercial partners. Their funding will help us to continue to invest in the up and coming young Rider athletes, and in particular, our player pathway, and we look forward to working with them on a range of marketing initiatives. It is particularly welcome that local Leicester companies like Fashion UK can see the benefit of working with the Riders, and investing in the future or our club and, thereby, the future of our communities.”

In addition to this, Fashion UK is in full swing with organising a Valentine’s Ball taking place on Saturday, 10th of February. Fashion UK and Alex’s Wish are hoping to attract 600 guests to the event and raise a further £5,000. The ball will be attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Leicester, and not forgetting their comedic side, the Fashion UK team have worked alongside the Big Difference Company to provide a comedian for the evening, creating a fabulous night full of eating, drinking and laughter.

Emma Hallam from Alex’s Wish says: “We are so excited to be working with Fashion UK on this event and want to thank the whole team for getting behind us. They’re support has been brilliant, and extensive; one of their employees is also planning to jump out of a plane later this year to raise vital funds. Without supporters like Fashion UK we would be hard pressed to do what we do and make a difference to boys suffering with Duchenne.”

Gurdev Mattu, Managing Director, Fashion UK concludes: ‘We’re proud to be associated with such brilliant local charities. All of the team here at Fashion UK are eager to give back to the community and will help worthy causes in any way they can. We can’t wait to contribute further to our partners and get involved with future projects.’
